Abstractions of Absence

On its mostly shadowed half
the vibrant canvas
pales to black.

this means many things
to passers through the gallery:

the preference
looms to mind

there I find
the edge of space
outside my world

some trace of face

where brushstrokes vaguely memorize
the artwork of your absent eyes.
