Aeonian

As autumn presses every leaf
to ponder mere mortality,

most evergreens would disagree:
the grandeur of eternity

shows vibrant vistas gray and go,
surviving fires, ice, and snows

with seeds and roots disposed to grow
beyond what any season knows.
