Apocalyptic Love Song

Tonight we see the stars wink out.
It seems they're leaving little doubt
the darkness coming was no joke
if all our dreams go up in smoke.

Turn off the TV, go offline.
Yes, everything will be just fine.
Forget the news. It's all the same.
Come sit beside me, say my name,

and tell me all that's on your mind,
why you feel so lost, what you find.
We'll talk as if the sun will rise.
Please turn to me, look at my eyes.

They claim the end is coming soon.
That's something falling from the moon
or further out from outer space,
but I just need to see your face

and feel your arms around me here
and hear your whispers in my ear
and know that you're in love with me
and leave the rest to mystery.

Don't make the future history.
Don't let the fears take you from me.
Don't give up if it's somehow true.
Don't think the end takes me from you.

It's getting cold out. Take my hand.
Come walk with me through grass and sand.
You realize that love beats death.
So smile and take a great big breath.

They claim the end is nearly here.
I've heard that almost every year.
What we've begun continues on.
Our love is like an endless dawn:

eternal light that's never gone.
Perpetual and paragon.
We'll kiss until the new moon flies.
Embrace me now.  Our love will rise.
