Back to -Z-e-r-o- One

From eight to nine
and then to ten:
now zero shows its face again

to calculate
how far we've come
if mileage was the wanted sum.

But as we travel backwards, dear,
from ten to nothing,
it's so clear

odometers cannot attest
how long and wrongly
we've regressed.

So let's get back
to square one
and
not ask
a number
where we stand.
