Birth of Sea Turtles

Deposited
in secret sand
one hundred plus eggs

nothing planned

but instinct wells
from fragile shells
to fracture
chew

await the light

then desperate pressures
venture
night:

you storm the breakers
pray your waves
bear mercifully
by certain graves

submissive drifters

undertow

too mere to steer
where you
will go.
