Cordelia
No gambit guides your tenderness.
Embellishments don't frame your heart.
While others fawn their faithfulness,
love pure as yours makes artless art,
No acts rehearsed on painted stages
play to gain the crowd's acclaims
No exaltations plucked from pages
speak you soul through strangers' names.
All answers authenticity
or crumples like a fallen king.
This much you teach us royally
no matter how a truth will sting
or where deceivers ostracize.
No kingdom shall survive by lies.
