Divider Divided

More pervious
to wind and rain
and angry seasons
unrestrained
these staggered rocks
one time arrayed
to bolster space
or blockade light
demark a bound
or forbid flight
now slowly sink
in softer ground
while weather gnaws
- relentless jaws -
worn mortared gaps:
each weaker edge
to make collapse
that fitting fate
when any wall
worse for its weight
however tall
divides to fall.
