Dreaming Beyond Stairways
Our
steps
adjacent
upping down
then
exits
entered
bend around
as if
reflecting
Escher prints
I saw before
you fell asleep.
Here nowhere
shows expectedly
or losing ground
is what we
keep
unless
one means
to rove around.
Yes
I can ask
what logic found
if it descends
an endless
flight
yet
wound up
doubting right from rite
(or is it leave
you've left
behind?)
At
times
a landing
clears my mind
to glimpse above
a floor or
fall
and know
(behind your door)
no wall
keeps ever afters
from this dream
where higher inclines often seem
to draw me toward
that wish to be
the destination where
you're free
to
cross
the threshold of old eyes
without a need to grieve goodbyes.
