Dyad

Brothers, cousins, uncles, dad
- that family I never had.

You standing close beside me here,
how glad this makes me daily, dear.

Nobody else divides our care:
we each receive the lion's share.

We need no deaths to congregate
or holidays to celebrate.

We reminisce, revel, embrace,
our household's warm inviting space

entertaining youthful glee
and kinship beyond ancestry.
