Escaping Escapism

You loathe the known, so roam astray
wherever winds whisk thoughts away.

Forgotten prospects drag the past.
Remembering grounds futures fast.

Which exits lend reprieve from grief
or entrances receive relief?

However we prefer these sprees
through alternate realities,

how many truths could you evade,
ignore, defy, or see delayed?

What situation does one flee?
Escape makes nothing clear or free

when anyplace that speaks release
becomes a space devoid of peace.

If home was mostly feeling right,
we must admit we're wrong tonight.
