Family Forest
I wind my way back
toward our tree
observe the branch
which bore my leaf
retrace the trunk
down to its roots
then glance across
the wider woods
aware the forest
rose from seeds
preceding all
we cultivate
from histories
outgrown by life
now ground beneath
the underbrush.
