A Fondness of Swans

Together, golden, blessed in tranquil lights,
we float, reflecting fortunes, former flights
above wide valleys, forests, rivers, hills,
which lead us both to here, this buss of bills,
adoring heads of cherished necks to curve
in heart-shapes married mid-air, there to serve
our sacred symbol of symmetric vows.
This lifelong bond preserves us and endows
a silent strength enduing patient grace
no decades dare design to soon efface
such mythic beauty borne by timeless wings.
What retrospect this water-mirror brings.
The drowsy sun dreams up new starry night,
inviting us to bathe in brisk moonlight.
Let wavelets from our swimming ripple out,
increasing sea with love beyond all doubt.
