A History of Love

Amid a pathway
paved by fate
we met and stepped
on through the gate

exchanging questions
knowledge, smiles
for many years
and many miles

stronger by the hour.
First the friendship
like a flower

blooming brightly
became our garden

somewhere joyous
we could thrive
and feel so free
so much alive.

Awake now, grateful
in our quilt
we warm the home
our love has built

astonished by
our history:
how all of this
was meant to be.
