through scenes few viewers should construe

but even as you trance a lens
then improvise asides and lines,
you still audition, must perform,

bring dramas toward your inner stage,
where curtains neither fall nor rise,
applause cannot conclude an act,

although a dream speaks loud, alive,
before the spotlights - no retakes,
no intermissions, interludes:

there you remain in character,
perfecting craft with every show,
so often that I hope you know

a time beyond that theater,
when no one seeks the title role
and all the rest goes unrehearsed.
