The Lake as Painter
The lake paints everything it sees
- the flowers, clouds, the hills and trees -
in concrete forms, when all is calm,
or more abstractly when so moved:
then mountains melt and marbleize
with forests smearing toward the skies
as boulders wither blissfully
and all the world blurs beautifully
until a stillness calms the art
and everything that flowed apart
regains composure and reflects
the scenery the lake collects.
