Old Folks' Lore

Their self-aggrandized fabrications
thrilled our captive ears

tilling fertile minds
overeager to observe
fantastic stories germinate

too young to wonder
were it true.

They harvested our yielding hearts

greenly leaning listeners
envisioning endearing pasts

where everything's
everyone's
so unlike today.
