not outliving skin or stone.

perhaps an oyster
yearning pearls
and opalescence of the dusk
it hears about
but never sees.

which began as basic math
sketched on napkins over lunch:
new formulas for gravity
explaining what we should have known.

What it feels like
to be crushed
by the weight
of clarity
if everything
was wrought of glass.

The mountain's heart,
tough atrium:

pumping rigor
rhythm

life

throughout the bodies
of the world.

What you would see
if time could
freeze.

where sand was fine
