Ouroboros - Poem by Robert J. Tiess

In ageless arcs
through mortal time
this serpent curves
   circumferent
cyclicities
   of mythic chase
       from charging mouth
    to rattled tail
ever centering the cause
revolving
   restless death from life
evolving ends
    again commence
invert reversions to regain
in rampant transit to sustain
   expelling
      and consuming all
   as fires climb
and forests fall
in the balance of its scales
   where moons enfold
       and sunlight trails
   till night revives another day
the snake shall swallow anyway
encompassing
   its ceaseless bait
       eliminating to create
such undulations
fluctuate
thus oscillating vertebrae
    with liberty
        bestowing
    fate.
