Potential Futures
What comes up next? Which prophecy
speaks for the future we will see?
Smoother, smarter, faster, stark?
Cooler, hotter, brighter, dark?
Biology replaced within
as motors grow beneath the skin?
Dehumanizing down to voice?
The automation of all choice?
A mind that climbs outside of veins,
abandoning what flesh remains?
Or flights beyond a perfect Earth,
of flawless life and deathless birth
preceding immortalities,
adorable realities
where nothing comes to suffering
and everything exists in spring
so no one breathes a word of war
or leaves or grieves or asks for more?
Look past your movies, books, and years,
predestination, greed, and fears:
which futures would you choose today?
Though histories will have their say,
you play a part in these dreams, too:
some futures start, right here, with you!
