Refugia
Beside me, down these burnished lanes,
as rainfall confounds street lamps, signs,
 commingling glimmers, memories,
 how I recall hours searching
for your glasses, my house keys,
 eventually to squint and see
 beyond this blur stirred clarities:
 merging paths past benches, park,
 lit doorways, coffees, names exchanged,
 red umbrella bought and shared,
 warm shelters of remembered days,
 escaping early autumn chills.
