To a Dreamer Not Yet Lucid

While deep asleep
you think you wake.

The bed's instead
that stranger stage
where thoughts perform
whole plays you wrote

unknowingly

though don't direct

since you're not sure
if this is more
that just the stuff
of idle dreams.

So you act on,
can't improvise

yet you attend
theatrically:

both company
and audience

applauding
your absurdity.
