True Stories

With each word breathed, new stories stir,
gain animation in our minds,
where characters arise from pages,
think or pace or lean to speak
so credibly you might reply.

Soon chapters numbers grow in time.
A myth inflates through every room
as we became part of the tale
and dream up sequels before morn
when plot lines thin, begin to blur.

With fictions feeling factual,
too few discern what's actual.
We read ourselves to sleep each night
and seldom wish to wake and fight
the fantasies which give us flight.
