Unbound

Above Earth, evenings vanish fast
while I'm in orbit, floating slow.

Each planetary revolution
sparks from darkness without war,

transitions into silent peace
between extremes of dusk and dawn.

Illumination, ageless space:
here, shadows cannot subdue worlds.

The stars, once born in beds of dust,
expect to lend the void their light.

The universe may seem like night,
but nothing there pronounces hours

or vouches time had any powers
over this eternity,

to score it all in mortal ticks
then govern with inconstancy.

Again, as twilight veers around,
such endlessness remains unbound,

and everything exists as free.
